  • Beschreibung: Im linken Bildhintergrund ist ein kleines Dorf mit Kirche abgebildet, dessen Beschaulichkeit durch eine Kriegsszene am rechten Bildrand gestört wird. Soldaten schießen mit Laufwaffen, an denen Bajonette befestigt sind, aufeinander. Ein Soldat im Vordergrund entzieht sich seinem Dienst, indem er sich mit einer Dorfbewohnerin auf ein Stelldichein im Weizenfeld getroffen hat. Beide sind noch im Begriff sich wieder anzukleiden. Der Soldat blickt in Richtung des Geschehens im Hintergrund, während er sein Hemd in die Hose steckt. Waffen und Rucksack liegen noch am Boden. Eventuell soll hier auf den Deutschen Krieg von 1866 rekurriert werden.

  • Zustand: Verbesserungswürdiger Zustand. Das Blatt zeigt starke Verschmutzungs- und Verbräunungsspuren. Der Blattrand ist abgegriffen mit mehreren Einrissen (einer am oberen Rand geht ca. bis 3 cm in die Darstellung rein). Das Blatt zeigt mehrere vertikale und stellenweise horizontale Knickspuren. Die Darstellung ist klar und kontrastreich abgebildet.

  • Description: The left background shows a small village with a church, whose tranquillity is disturbed by a war scene on the right edge of the picture. Soldiers are shooting at each other with barrel guns to which bayonets are attached. A soldier in the foreground evades his duty by meeting a village woman for a tryst in the wheat field. Both are still in the process of dressing again. The soldier looks towards the action in the background as he tucks his shirt into his trousers. Weapons and rucksack are still lying on the ground. Perhaps this is a reference to the German War of 1866.

  • Condition: Defective condition. The sheet shows strong signs of soiling and browning. The edge of the sheet is worn with several tears (one at the upper edge goes approx. 3 cm into the image). The sheet shows several vertical and in places horizontal crease marks. The illustration is clear and rich in contrast.
