We are both the oldest surviving members of our families. As life-long collectors, and inheritors from those who have Gone Before, we must move on some of our Stuff before that (hopefully far-off) day when it becomes our children’s responsibility. Happy to combine for cheaper postage but PLEASE WAIT for combined invoice from me or ask me for one; postage discounts can only be given on combined purchases paid for on a single invoice.

From an album of militaria ephemera – mostly postcards – put together by a serious collector. This lot WW1. I have done some basic research but with on-line resources now there would be a lot more to discover if anyone was inclined. Happy to combine; especially for International buyers, you can fit a fair few items in a 250g parcel. Condition: many of these items have literally Been to War, so some wear should be expected. See photographs to judge condition.
Old items, may be damaged. See listing description & photos. There will be more to come.

POSTCARD FROM FRENCH LASS? TO DIGGER 1576 JAMES ROBERT LAING 60TH BATT OCT 1916 #18

Headed "Montelimar 17/10/1916 – Kindest Keepsake of one little French" and then a signature. It is addressed to Sgt Major J R Laing 60th Battalion.

“1576 James Robert Laing was a married carpenter aged 30 when he enlisted at Broadmeadows 9/12/1914. (He was Canadian, having been born in Toronto.) The 60th Battalion was almost wiped out in the Battle of Fromelles in July 1916. Having arrived too late for this disaster (due to some illness along the way) Laird was Acting Sergt for some time between September and December 1916, the date when this card was written. He was wounded in action at Etaples 12.5.17 and sent to hospital in England. He returned to Australia 14/12/1918 as part of the 59th Battalion with the rank of Private.”

Lovely artist card Two Sky Blues.   Good condition.

    My Items

The items I sell are vintage; they are second hand, old, sometimes very old. I try to describe and photograph my items honestly and to the best of my ability; however if pristine condition is very important to you, I feel you should be buying from a regular shop, where you can inspect the items personally. Please note that all my items are sold "as is", with no warranty implied, and that the photos form part of the description, which should be read carefully. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM PLEASE CONTACT ME FIRST.

Shipping and Payment Terms; Combining Items

If you win more than one item in a listing please wait for a combined invoice from me to save you on postage and insurance costs. I always wait until the last item in an auction listing finishes before sending invoices in case buyers win more than one item. If you win an item and are planning to bid on an item in a later-finishing auction, please email me to let me know, and I will wait until that auction has finished to send you a combined invoice.

International buyers please note: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or postage charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's Customs Office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (postage) company or when you pick the item up – do not confuse them for additional postage charges.

    Problem with a Transaction?

PLEASE contact me first. I am a reasonable human being; if there is a problem I am sure we can work something out that will satisfy us both. Involving eBay should be a last resort – something I hope will not be necessary. Contact Seller is under More Actions on your Purchase History page, or simply Reply to the email I sent when I posted your item.
