Sandra Victorino Acoma Polychrome Seed Pot

This Acoma polychrome eye dazzler pot measures approximately 3.5" tall and just over 3" diameter at the widest point around. It measures 1" at the base and the opening in the top measures just under .25". This vase was intricately handpainted and signed by the award-winning artist and features a short-fluted neck leading to the tip of the piece. This is an exceptional piece without any chips or cracks. Sandra was taught by her aunt and teacher, the famous Dorothy Torivio and by her late grandmother.

Sandra Victorino is a full blooded Native American Indian born into the Pueblo of the Acoma in 1958. After watching her grandmother, Frances Torivio, make pottery all through her childhood, Sandra began working with clay around the age of ten. Frances taught Sandra the traditional methods of hand-coiling and pit-firing and another inspiration for her were the incomparable geometric patterns she learned from her famous aunt, Dorothy Torivio. Sandra has won many awards for her work and her pottery is displayed in the Heard Museum Art Collections as well as in many private collections. Her work has great collector value.
