Finely carved wooden keris handle, depicting Narasimha, the 4th Avatar of the Hindu God Vishnu who is said to have reincarnated in the form of half lion and half man to kill the Demon Hiranyakashipu who was wreaking havoc with mankind. Narasimha devoured the Demon ( hence his swollen belly ) and thus restored Dharma to the world.
