Surface rust is present as the clutch plates must be made from high grade steel rather than aluminum for performance reasons. It is important that the clutch is not slippery, so we do not paint or add oil to counteract natural oxidation and rusting from air, to ensure that the clutch remains very grippy, especially with high-performance motors.
