We are both the oldest surviving members of our families. As life-long collectors, and inheritors from those who have Gone Before, we must move on some of our Stuff before that (hopefully far-off) day when it becomes our children’s responsibility. Happy to combine for cheaper postage but PLEASE WAIT for combined invoice from me or ask me for one; postage discounts can only be given on combined purchases paid for on a single invoice.

These cards are from albums that belonged to the Monson Paul family of Sydney. More specifically almost all of those that were postally used were addressed to Florence (Florrie), or Annie, daughters of Edmund Monson Paul and his wife Rosalie (nee Purdie). They were a prominent Sydney family, living at St Marks Cottage, Darling Point. Edmund came from England to head up the Schweppes company in Australia; he was also for many years the Russian Consul in Sydney. A biography of Edmund can be found here
    https://collection.powerhouse.com.au/object/322863
Neither Florrie nor Annie or brother Edmund married; they are all buried at Waverley Cemetery with their parents and sister Rosalie Catherine (Paul) Threlfall; for information on the Threlfall family see

These are almost all overseas topographical cards, and the vast majority of them unused. They are mostly in good condition; most will have corner compression from being in albums; some will have age staining or spotting. Those that are dated or postmarked are almost all from 1906; they were posted from overseas to Florrie and Annie, or collected during the trip and brought home unused. Happy to combine. I don’t know whether anyone will be interested in these early topographical cards, many of them undivided back, but I hope so. International people PLEASE NOTE that with very few exceptions these are to be posted overseas as untracked letters which often take 30+ days to arrive, so if you decide to buy, please be patient. I am happy to combine but please note that if you buy more than 1 lot your postage cost will switch from untracked letter rate to tracked small parcel. The good news is that you can fit a LOT of postcards in a 250 gram parcel.

12 c1906 COLOMBO CEYLON BUILDINGS STREET SCENES GARDENS MARKET #30

One is signed with a message on the back Edith Reid Todd – wife of John Frederick Beachamp Todd; nee Cross, married 1904. A New Zealand family.  All the rest unused, some green sepia, some hand coloured. Throwing in a fabulous real photo in sepia – some religious festival – there are dressed elephants, so I am guessing either India or Ceylon – as there are no cards from India, and LOTS from Ceylon, I am including it here.

    My Items

The items I sell are vintage; they are second hand, old, sometimes very old. I try to describe and photograph my items honestly and to the best of my ability; however if pristine condition is very important to you, I feel you should be buying from a regular shop, where you can inspect the items personally. Please note that all my items are sold "as is", with no warranty implied, and that the photos form part of the description, which should be read carefully. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM PLEASE CONTACT ME FIRST.

Shipping and Payment Terms; Combining Items

If you win more than one item in a listing please wait for a combined invoice from me to save you on postage and insurance costs. I always wait until the last item in an auction listing finishes before sending invoices in case buyers win more than one item. If you win an item and are planning to bid on an item in a later-finishing auction, please email me to let me know, and I will wait until that auction has finished to send you a combined invoice.

International buyers please note: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or postage charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's Customs Office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (postage) company or when you pick the item up – do not confuse them for additional postage charges.

    Problem with a Transaction?

PLEASE contact me first. I am a reasonable human being; if there is a problem I am sure we can work something out that will satisfy us both. Involving eBay should be a last resort – something I hope will not be necessary. Contact Seller is under More Actions on your Purchase History page, or simply Reply to the email I sent when I posted your item.
