This is a very large wall map of the London Underground and British Railway connections issued in 1974. This map is printed one side only and measures about 50” x 39.75” or about 127 cm x 101 cm. This map was rolled and doesn’t appear to have ever been folded. I believe was probably used as wall map somewhere in the London Underground or in a British Rail station.
The lower righthand corner just below the key showing the different London Underground lines is printed “Designed in the Publicity Office of London Transport by T.P. Demuth” and “July 1974 No. 2”. The lower margin at the bottom center is printed “Drawn in the Cartographic Department of Cook, Hammond, & Kell Ltd. London”. The lower lefthand corner is printed with the document code 12.74/2999M/4000.
This vintage original map is fully complete and intact with moderate handling wear including some creasing and bumping along the edges in places. The map shows some toning from age and short tear of about two inches without loss of paper on the left edge. The colors remain strong and the map displays nicely. The is a vintage original from the end of the Swinging London era of the 1960s and early 1970s. Email any questions. Thanks for looking.
