The origin of today's courier bags in the pre-digital era were large, water-repellent bags from bicycle couriers, which were supposed to transport pictures and film material for advertising agencies and photographers and reached their destination faster than cars by bike in the city. Unfortunately, in media cities like Hamburg, it rained a lot, so courier bags were made out of tarpaulin.
