Set of Viking belt. A unique archaeological find. An original Viking artifact
All elements of the belt were found during archaeological excavations at the site of an ancient Viking settlement of 7-10 centuries AD.
It is extremely rare for bronze belt elements to be found in such perfect condition, as a rule, they spoil quickly and are lost.
Jormungand (also called the "Midgard Serpent" or "Midgardsorm", the goddess of evil) - a female of a huge snake-like dragon, one of the children of the god Loki and the giantess Angrboda. When Odin, the father and leader of the Aesir, learned from the Norns that Thor's death was hidden in Jormungand, he sent it to the bottom of the sea. In the ocean, Jormungand grew to such a large size that she was able to girdle the land with her body and bite her own tail - it is here, in the world ocean, that she will be most of the time until the arrival of Ragnarök , when she will have to face Thor in the final battle.

Norse legends describe two encounters between the serpent and Thor before Ragnarök. The first encounter took place when Thor traveled to the King of the Giants, Uthgard-Loki, to endure three tests of physical strength. The first task was to raise the royal cat. Utgard-Loki's trick was that it was actually Jormungand transformed into a cat; this made the task very difficult - the only thing Thor could achieve was to force the animal to tear one paw off the floor. The king of the giants, however, recognized this as a successful mission and revealed the deception. This legend is contained in the text of the Younger Edda.

The second time Jormungand and Thor met when the latter went fishing with Hymir. A bull's head was used as bait. As Thor's boat passed over the snake, it let go of its tail and latched onto the bait. The struggle lasted long enough. Thor managed to pull the monster's head to the surface - he wanted to strike it with Mjolnir, but Hymir could not stand the sight of the snake writhing in agony and cut the line, letting Jormungand dive away from them into the abyss of the ocean.

During the final battle (Ragnarök), the death of the Gods, Thor and Jormungand will meet for the last time. Having got out of the world ocean, the snake will poison the sky and the earth with its poison, forcing the water spaces to rush to the land. Thor will knock off the monster's head, but he will be able to move only nine steps away - poison will spray from the monster's body and kill him.
