A simple 1950's V Neck sweater worked in Sirdar Tweedex Wool 3 ply. There is a  also a

matching Marple style scarf which is worked in garter stitch and 4 ply 

Tension 8 sts. to an inch unpressed

Measurements to fit:
32 - 34 - 36 - 38 inch Bust

Tweedex by Sirdar was a Light Fingering / 3 ply 100% Wool - 56 grams per ball.
Sirdar Majestic was a 4-Ply Fingering 100% Wool - 50 grams (1.76 ounces) balls

The needles and hooks mentioned are old UK sizes, so I have included
 a chart to help
