  • Beschreibung: Kolorierte Radierung auf Papier Auf grünem Stoff gedruckte Glückwunschverse, darüber Engel in Wolken. Das Blatt ist handschriftlich beschriftet, demnach hat Luise Lossius die Karte Madame Hopfe geschenkt. Die Karte stammt aus einer Sammlung Glückwunschkarten der Biedermeier Zeit. Diese Freundschafts- und Glückwunschkarten stellen liebenswerte, aber auch kulturgeschichtlich besonders interessante Zeugnisse jener Zeit dar. Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts wurde es insbesondere in Wien zu einer Sitte, sich zum neuen Jahr Höflichkeitsbesuche abzustatten und Visit- und Glückwunschkarten zu überbringen.

Unknown (18th century), Fabric Greeting Card on Friendship with Cherub on Clouds a Crown and a Green Branch in Hands, c. 1790, Congratulations billet

  • Description: Coloured etching on paper Congratulatory verses printed on green fabric, above angels in clouds. The sheet is inscribed by hand, according to which Luise Lossius gave the card to Madame Hopfe. The card is part of a collection of greeting cards from the Biedermeier period. These friendship and greetings cards represent endearing, but also culturally and historically particularly interesting testimonies of that time. At the end of the 18th century, it became a custom, especially in Vienna, to pay each other a courtesy call at the New Year and to send visiting and greeting cards.
