Book Details: Spider-Man #1 (1990) Classic McFarlane Cover - Ultra-Rare Purple Webs CGC 9.9!
This is your opportunity to become the envy of other McFarlane collectors and own one of the rarest Toddfather comics in the world. There are only 3 known CGC 9.9 copies (Out of 2,599 graded copies!) of the purple webs variant in existence and zero 10.0 copies. This is a great investment and something that doesn't come along very often.
The last known sale of this book in a 9.9 was $1,320, just before the comic boom. I am not sure the seller realized what they had back then because it was underpriced, in my opinion. I mean this is the polybagged edition which is notoriously hard to get in 9.8 since the seam on the bag tends to leave an impression on the back cover.
Note: If you look up the CGC certification page of this book (1038609054), you will find that CGC has it mis-classified as the more common gray webs edition. I contacted them about having it fixed, but they would not do so without having the book in their possession. My plan was to take the book to a convention and show it to them in person to get it corrected, but haven't done so yet.
On a personal note... this comic looks really good on my wall (see photo) and I hate to see it go. But, I have a 9.8 of this exact book and that's good enough for me. I need to make room in the comic budget for other books that I want to purchase.
