Description: This marble has a classic combination of bright cobalt and orange; intense on the 'belly' side and gleaming through the hazy 'back' side of a white based core, with fine bubbles sparkling inside.
Type: From an amazing and limited batch of very large marbles for this type; which are extremely hard to find: we have not seen another batch of Sparklers like these despite handling many hundreds of them. With full-bodied cores allowing great views of their filamentous structures, this variety have fantastic fizzy bubbles creating glitzy inner excitement, and a beautiful soft palette in gentle pastels, milky transparencies and bright highlights within a very clear base matrix. We have included an example photo of one of these large marbles taken beside two other ordinary sized sparklers at 5/8'' (15.8mm, .63'') and (25/32'' (19.85mm, .78''). These items are not included in the listing, but we wanted to show how large the big ones really are!
In general the interesting vintage Sparkler marble type were distributed in Europe in the 50's and 60's. They typically share a cup-like form with an icy clear base, floating filaments, misty structures and brilliant multicoloured combinations; and have a widely varied, highly collectible and enjoyable character. The French type tend to be subtle with lots of veined transparencies in their delicate structure. These attractive marbles were very popular when they were made, but are becoming harder to obtain over time. Sparklers have such wide appeal, and we love them because each individual one presents a world of miniature mesmerising marble marvels!
