The shape is a rectangle, with ties and an elastic waist that give it shape. The overall width is fairly uniform at 15". The resting waist size is 11", but comfortably stretches to 26" total. I could even put it on at 28" and the elastic could be lengthened along with the laces to make it more like a size Medium. It's a very soft wool; not itchy. The back closures are metal hook & loops. There is one small repair on the side border (in photos) and a super teeny darn near the front bust that is impossible to spot. Freshly cleaned.
