VHT-X High Temperature Ceramic Wheel, Brake Caliper and Exhaust Tip Coating | eBay

VHT-X is a specialist coating based on a ceramic polymer technology. VHT-X was specifically formulated to withstand extreme temperatures, road contamination and brake dust. When exposed to air and moisture, the base molecules in VHT-X interlink to form a three-dimensionally crosslinked network, providing a permanent, covalent bond. The fully cured coating is a silicon/nitrogen hybrid which has many similarities to silicon nitride ceramic, a material used in the construction of rocket engine nozzles.

VHT-X can be cured and crosslinked at room temperature without any specialist equipment.

When fully cured, VHT-X has the following attributes:

Extremely hard providing excellent scratch resistance.
Easy clean properties, VHT-X has a drag co-efficient almost as good as Fluoropolymers or as you may know them, Teflon ®.
Strong hydrophobic behaviour which inhibits the bonding of contamination and soiling.
Exceptional resistance to heat (Up to 1000 °C depending on the film thickness), unlike traditional Ceramic coatings the versatile curing chemistry of VHT-X means heat actually strengthens the cross-linked network.
Extreme chemical resistance, acid or alkali.
Protects against corrosion and oxidation.

Safe to be used on the following finishes:

Bare Metal (alloy, copper, steel, stainless, titanium)
Painted finishes
Carbon fiber (matt and gloss)
Plastic trim
Powder coated finishes
Anodized finishes
Gloss, matt & satin finishes

Precautions & Storage

Flammable liquid and vapour, harmful if swallowed and if contact is made with the eyes.
Store in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated environment, away from heat and fire sources, the recommended temperature for storage is 0-20℃.
Apply in a well-ventilated, dry environment, and use the necessary protective measures, such as gloves, masks, and goggles.
Do not place uncured VHT-X near to fire, humid air, or water.
After opening, seal as quickly as possible.
Unused product cannot be recycled and should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Instructions for use

Do not apply in direct sunlight, rain, high winds, temperatures below 5°c or above 40°c. Wear latex gloves, eye protection, a mask and work in a well-ventilated area.
1. Prior to applying ensure the area to be coated is clean, dry and has then been thoroughly degreased.
2. Release cap slowly and apply 5-10 drops of VHT-X onto a suitable lint free applicator.
3. Apply in light overlapping strokes, spread out any excess product.
4. Wait for the coating flash (when you see it rainbow) typically 2-5 minutes (will vary based on temperature and humidity) and lightly buff off the excess product with a clean microfibre cloth. Then gently buff with a secondary clean cloth until your desired finish is achieved. Dispose of the used microfibre cloths after use.
5. The product will be touch dry in 30-60 minutes after application (will vary based on temperature and humidity).
6. An additional layer of VHT-X can be applied after the first layer is surface dry.
7. Curing will continue for as long as 36 hours at room temperature (20-25 ° C) or longer in lower temperatures, you can accelerate the curing process by applying heat with halogen lamp, hair dryer etc (heating to 60-80° C for around 3hours will fully cure).
8. If curing at room temperature, try to keep dry for 12 hours if practical and do not wash the vehicle for at least 36 hours.
