ADVERTISING MERCHANT’S NATIONAL BANK TOPEKA KS THE FREE STATE FAIR 1951 CARDS

As an ephemera admirer and collector, I’ve never seen anything like this—too cool for school—whimsical advertising bank promo with a cute gimmick, a card case that looks like books. It actually contains 2 decks of playing cards that form a fun picture of a young couple in their “Home Sweet Home.” The book is only slightly bigger than a regular deck of playing cards. Each deck is complete with jokers.

The front of the book cover says:

“The Merchant’s National Bank

Topeka, Kansas

Free Fair Party 1951”

On the book spines, it reads:

“Twins Twins

Happy Days Pleasant Evenings

Special Edition”

The gold writing on the spines is worn but still readable.

The Brown & Bigelow cards have been played with but very few are creased or marked upon. See examples in photos. Cards have definitely been played with but for such a RARE, UNIQUE advertising promo of ephemera, they are complete and in good condition. Edges are gilded, not dirty.
