  • Bezeichnung: Unterhalb der Darstellung in der Platte betitelt, gefolgt von der Bezeichnung: "In the Collection of John Blackwood Esqr / Se ipse Pinxit / WBaillie Sculp.".
    Großartiges Sitzporträt des Frans Hals (?), der, nach links gewendet, den Betrachter sanft anlächelt. Die Darstellung zeigt einen geschmackvoll gekleideten jungen Mann im Wams, der Kragen mit feinem Spitzenbesatz und Schlapphut mit Krempe. Wunderschöne Hell-Dunkel Kontraste. Nach einem der am besten dokumentierten Gemälde in Frans Hals' Oeuvre, dem "Portrait of Young Man in a Yellowish Grey Coat" von ca. 1635 in der Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister Dresden. Es ist nicht geklärt, ob es sich dabei um ein Selbstporträt handelt.

    Great seated portrait of Frans Hals (?), who, turned to the left, smiles gently at the viewer. The depiction shows a tastefully dressed young man in a doublet, the collar with fine lace trim and a floppy hat with a brim. Wonderful contrasts of light and dark. After one of the best documented paintings in Frans Hals' oeuvre, the "Portrait of Young Man in a Yellowish Grey Coat" from around 1635 in the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister Dresden. It is not clear whether this is a self-portrait.

  • Condition: Good condition. Foxing and somewhat browned in the margins. The sheet has a few creases which do not affect the image. It makes an excellent impression.
