Bill George, in his published history of the small electric appliance industry, says that Chicago Electric began "... in the electrical supply business in 1902.  Over the years the company manufactured a great variety of household appliances including a portable electric washing machine, an ice cream freezer, a mixer, electric irons, toasters grills, waffle irons, and in the 1930s, one of its most successful items, the "Jucit" electric juicer.  The firm's products carry the "Handyhot", "Victory Brand",  "Mary Dunbar",  and "Handymix" labels.  The Silex Corporation acquired Chicago Electric in 1953, for slightly less than a million dollars.
