VERY RARE, VERY NICE, FANCY 7" REVOLUTIONARY WAR PERIOD  PISTOL POWDER HORN, w/SCARCE "OVAL CROSS SECTION", AND ORIGINAL Hand Carved Wooden Stopper

DESCRIPTION: Particularly nice Revolutionary War PISTOL POWDER HORN, used by officers with their flintlock pistols.

This one is very unusual, very well made, and very fancy.....carved well, with an unusual oval cross section, and nicely polished.  I've never seen a powder horn so finely made.

ALSO COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL HAND-CARVED WOODEN STOPPER WHICH IS USUALLY MISSING. Horn measures about 7" along its length. Pouring end is very nicely carved and shaped. HAS A VERY NICE, NICELY HAND-CARVED WOODEN BUTT PLUG, held in by double rows of great looking early hand made nails.

This has all the attributes, design, style, patina, and look of a Revolutionary War period horn. Has really nice color and horn characteristics, nice appearance, and nice patina.  HAS A NICE CURVE TO IT, WHICH COMBINED WITH THE OVAL CROSS SECTION GIVES IT A GREAT LOOK !

Has a particularly nice look to it, for addition to a  collection or to hang with a musket or pistol over a fireplace.

Very good condition overall condition. Some worm damage on one side (only), but not too bad for its age.  Could also be mounted with that side down to cover it.  An unusual item, from an early Massachusetts estate.
