Event Publicity Poster Stamp

Publicity poster stamp for the DAL Markedsfest (DAL = Dansk Arbejder Loge - Market Fair) held in København (Copenhagen) on November 2, 1913.
The Fair was held at the Koncertpalæet (Concert Palace), which was the old name for the mansion which was the headquarters for the Danish IOOF (International Order of Odd Fellows).
The DAL, or Dansk Arbejder Loge, was the original name of the fraternal organization known as the Dansk Broder Orden, and still exists today.
According to the Oredr's website at www.danskbroderorden.dk:

The DANSK BRODER ORDEN was founded on a Masonic basis on 29 January 1894 in Copenhagen by a circle of men who represented very different attitudes to life, but who shared the desire to found the Order that today bears the name DANSK BRODER ORDEN.

What brought these men together was the desire to create a society, a world of their own, from which the hustle and bustle of everyday life was shut out, and where only what was healthy and good in man was called upon.

Brotherhood, community and security were the foundation and the supporting elements when the Order was founded in 1894 under the name DANSK ARBEJDER LOGE. In 1964 the name was changed to DANSK BRODER ORDEN.

    MISSION
The DANISH BRODER ORDER seeks, through lodge work, to teach the members, who are called brothers, a number of good thoughts and life values. Furthermore, the Order tries to teach the brothers about the transience of life, about the value of love, charity, truth, tolerance and brotherhood, so that a true sense of brotherhood develops among the brothers.

These goals are worked towards through serious work at weekly lodge meetings. This work is done through the use of instructions, symbols, ceremonies and rituals, which the brothers gradually become familiar with.

Since the work of the lodge is always carried out in peace and tolerance, the DANISH BRODER ORDER excludes all talk of politics and religion, just as the Order does not ask a brother about his affiliation with these things.

After 35+ years I decided to retire from being an active Cinderella Stamp dealer. Most of my working inventory plus backup stock was sold at public auction. However, I have retained some material that I will be offering for sale. In addition, I have some "new" material that was mixed into lots I have bought for my own collections. I will be listing some of the material in my eBay store at fixed prices. I will also be offering some material at auction, either as single items or mixed lots. There will be many bargains available. There will be large and small lots, some containing similar material, some containing a random mixture, and some containing only one or a few items. The condition will be mixed, but none of the lots will be just accumulations of damaged or faulty stamps (unless specifically listed as such).

Items in stockpage or larger lots may be removed and repackaged into glassines to save on shipping costs.

A Note about Poster Stamps and Gum: Because many poster stamp collectors are primarily interested in the image on the stamp, the absence or presence of gum on the back is of little concern. If no mention of gum is made, then there may or may not be gum present. If you are only interested in poster stamps with original gum, please inquire before bidding. Actual condition issues (that are not apparent from the scan) WILL be described.

A Note about "Stock Images": Occasionally I will have more than one example of an item in inventory. Rather than scan each one individually, I may use the same image for multiple examples of the item. If that is the case, the item supplied will be in substantially the same, or better, condition than the image. Any such items will have the words: "STOCK IMAGE" at the end of the description.
