1950s Life Size 66" Green Santa Claus or North Woodsman Mannequin

This Santa is from a smoke-free and pet-free home.

Santa Mannequin

There is no provenance that I can provide for this Santa. I bought it at a metro Phoenix estate sale.

The materials used to create this store display show all the aging characteristics of the 50s time period.

The face is made out of paper mâché, threading is old, the "leather" (vinyl) trim has softened but not degraded, the brass tacks that decorate Santa's belt have the proper patina, the paper mâché face has deepened in color as well. His white beard and white hair made from then old thick yarn that I remember as a kid have aged as well. Rabbit fur trims the green velvet jacket, pants and boots are not shedding. This Santa remains in excellent condition with 2 superficial defects. I will show in the last 2 or 3 photos the 2-3" tear on one of the green jacket shoulders as well as a small tear non the side of his "leather' vinyl boot.

There is an actual tailored opening (not a tear) of about 5" on the back of his pants that the artist used to stuff the Santa body.

I cannot find a single thing that has been replaced on Santa. Everything remains in the original condition.

I call it a mannequin but is actually a life size Santa or North Woodsman.
