This may be the first printing in picture cover format. According the Carpentieri & Mular, the 1st PC printing lists to #40 on the back, lists to #41 inside, and has a misspelled name (Gregg) 1962B-19 while the second printing (1963A-20) lists to #42 inside with "Greg" spelled correctly. This lists to #41 inside but does not have the spelling error (Gregg) on Page 209. This may be the true first correction of the spelling error in which case it might be numbered 1962C-20.
Beginning
in 1959 the publisher began a 15-year project to shorten the books
while eliminating some outdated words, references, and stereotypes. Some
feel that the original stories were better written but that will be
left to the individual reader to decide. This copy has the original text
with over 200 pages in 25 chapters.
I
do not wish to throw stones at other sellers but some people are
describing books as 1st editions that are obviously NOT 1st editions.
Check your price guide before buying a book described as a first
edition. If you do not own a guide, then remember that for Hardy Boys
and Nancy Drew matte books, listing to itself usually does not indicate
that a book is a first edition/first printing.
