  • Beschreibung: Die Zeichnung entstand auf einer Reise, die den englischen Architekten, Kartographen, archäologischen Schriftsteller, Kunstsammler, Numismatiker und literarischen Übersetzer William Barnard Clarke zwischen 1838 und 1839 nach Frankreich und später im Jahr 1839 weiter nach Italien führte. Die Ansicht aus Hyères zeigt den Place des Récollets mit dem 1832 zum Gedenken an Baron de Stulz (Johann Georg Stulz von Ortenberg) errichteten Obelisken. Im Schatten eines Baumes rastet ein Herr mit Zylinder.

  • Description: The drawing was made on a journey that took the English architect, cartographer, archaeological writer, art collector, numismatist and literary translator William Barnard Clarke to France between 1838 and 1839 and later on to Italy in 1839. The view from Hyères shows the Place des Récollets with the obelisk erected in 1832 in memory of Baron de Stulz (Johann Georg Stulz von Ortenberg). A gentleman in a top hat is resting in the shade of a tree.
