Selling a loaded explorer style guitar body. Body was made by me based upon a Gibson Explorer guitar body plan. Body is made of Mahogany and Birdseye Maple. Mahogany back and birdseye maple top. The maple top is rather thick with the thickness being close to .75 of an inch. Body was made with a contour neck heel, belly cut and an upper fret cut on the lower horn of the body. 25.5 scale length for a 22 fret neck. Rounded neck pocket to fit a strat shaped style neck.
Body is loaded with two Guitar Madness hexbuckers (they are on eBay if you want to check them out), a brass bridge with chrome saddles, chrome finished bridge ferrules cover on the back and a Birdseye maple cavity cover. Wiring is already done with a single volume knob and a three way switch but I cannot guarantee the wiring is 100% perfect as I did not get a chance to test it. The upper horn toggle switch is wired as a kill switch to give you the stutter sound EVH did and Ace did, Generic cavity cover for the upper horn cavity. Chrome guitar jack cover and two chrome strap buttons are also included. But I highly recommend getting a third strap button on the neck plate (which is not included) to help with the overall balance of the body.
Weight is just under 9 pounds for the body and all the parts.
Now the issues…..the upper fret access is still rather tight even with the lower horn cutout. You can hit the 21st and 22nd frets but it does get cramped. The lower horn needed to be a bit narrower which I never completed. There are a few spots where you can see the seam of the mahogany and maple. I filled a few of those spots with extra glue but I did not cover them up so you can see the seam and fill spots. Not the best job in the world but you don’t have to worry about dings or scratches since there are already imperfections. The top also has some dings where I bumped into a few things when I was playing the guitar (that upper rear horn is not shy about getting in the way sometimes).
