Great collection of R.W. Eschmeyer’s “True-To-Life Stories”. As stated on the back cover “An important series of entertaining and educational stories about fish and game animals and how they are managed for a better hunting and fishing future”. These books were published to show how sound management of wildlife resources (including fishing, hunting and trapping) makes for healthier populations. Unlike anthropomorphic books where wildlife wear clothes, talk and frolic with other species these books stick to the facts. If you enjoy works like Henry Williamson’s “Tarka the Otter” or “Salar the Salmon” you’ll love this series. You get Charley Cottontail, Freddy Fox Squirrel, Woody Woodcock, Bob White, Willie Whitetail, Bobby Bluegill, Mac Mallard, Al Alligator, Billy Bass and Tommy Trout. All of the books are first editions from 1952 or 53 other than Billy Bass and Tommy Trout (the two most popular books in the series) which are second editions. A few of the books have previous owners marks or stamps otherwise they are all in real nice condition fully illustrated by Roy K. Wills. Individual titles in this series sell for as much as $10-15 each. Please scrutinize the pictures to judge condition for yourself and thanks for stopping by.
