This bit was designed to bring back that soft feeling in the seasoned performance horse, whether they be ropers, reiners or mounted shooters. The flat port offers lots of contact so the horse will feel it lift from his tongue as the mouthpiece rotates, from there the mouthpiece will rotate from flat contact on the bars to an edge, so they’ve got plenty of clues and time to respond before the curb strap engages. Used correctly, this bit will offer you a lot of feel, and a pretty good shot at your horse’s undivided attention when you need it. The bit is a leverate position #2, mouth power #3 bit.
Leverage Position 2 bits give the classic-necked horse the performance advantages of perfect neck flexion and head position. Mouth Power 3 bits are considered high power mouthpieces and should only be used on horses that are very familiar with leverage and a port. They are good for putting some "feel" back into the seasoned campaigner, and providing a higher level of communication for an experienced rider on a highly trained horse.
The 8 inch long cheeks feature beautiful hand-engraved German Silver overlay on a stainless steel base, and mouthpiece is made from sweet iron with copper roller bars.
