Description

This is for a superb quality very early stein produced by Johann Georg Weigl of Bavaria, dating to the mid 19th Century.

There is limited information about this maker of steins though he operated in Carlsbad, Bohemia, now known as Karlovy, Vary, in Czechia.

The stein is in super condition for its approximately 170 years of age with its smoothly operating lid, porcelain insert and glass body all in very good order with only a tiny nibble to the outer rim of the glass near the lid handle.  Please see photos to appreciate the lovely condition.

The porcelain lid insert features a typical Bavarian scene with perhaps a pair of lovers gallivanting through the streets!

The stein measures just over 5 inches (13cm) high to the top of the porcelain lid when closed.
