The book, Dr. Ge's Reminiscences, chronicled the episodes of author's nearly 70 years of life experience. Mr. Ge, a poor farmer and a barefoot doctor, realized his dream of going to college at age of 29. He was admitted to Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) as a graduate student after completing his undergraduate study. He had to give up the opportunity to work in the PUMC hospital, the best hospital in China, and returned to his hometown. After passing the English exam held by China Ministry of Health, he got the Sasakawa Medical Scholarship of Japan. He began to learn Japanese at the age of 42, preparing to go to study in Japan. This book recorded the author's life footprints and the people he met in the past years. Although the things described in the book are trivial, they are real and true, and quite worthy of aftertaste. Although the stories are only author's personal experience, they reflect the author's times.
