NICELY CARVED, SHAPED, & COLORED REVOLUTIONARY WAR PERIOD PRIMING POWDER HORN 

DESCRIPTION: Particularly nice & unusual antique Revolutionary War period POWDER HORN, used to store gun powder by individual riflemen for use in firing their their flintlock muskets. 

This one has  a nice curve and particularly nice coloring.  It also has a very nicely carved/shaped pouring end, and a  nice WOODEN PLUG END with nice patina.  Small size, and measures about 5 1/2" along its length. Pouring end has 6 flat sides and is VERY MUCH THE STYLE OF A REVOLUTIONARY WAR POWDER HORN.  

Has a number of particularly large early handmade iron nails to hold the wooden butt plug in. BUTT PLUG FiTS NICELY. 

This has all the attributes, design, style, patina, size, and look of a Revolutionary War period horn. Has really nice color and horn characteristics.   Has a great look, for addition to a collection or to hang with a musket over a fireplace. 

Nice condition, with only minor insect damage.   A particularly scarce size priming horn, from an early Massachusetts estate.
