Rare, Vintage Comemorative Delfts Hotel de Wereld "Copitulatie 5 Mei 1945" Plate

This vintage Delfts Hotel de Wereld "Capitulatie 5 Mei 1945" plate is a rare find for collectors of political and historical memorabilia.  Made of high-quality Delfts porcelain in Holland, this plate features a unique commemorative design of the Hotel de Wereld (meaning Hotel of the World) where the Capitulation Documents were signed in Wageningen.  The hotel was the site of the surrender of Nazi Germany's control of the Netherlands.  On 5 May 1945, the negotiation for the surrender of the Germans in the Netherlands took place in the hotel.  I Corps Canadian Commander Lieutenant-General Charles Foulkes, accompanied by Canadian Brigadier-General George Kitching and Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, accepted the capitulation of Oberbefehlshaber Niederlande German commander-in-chief Generaloberst Johannes Blaskowitz, who was accompanied by German Generalleutnant Paul Reichelt.  The commemorative plate honors those who brought about an end to the occupation of the Netherlands by the Nazi Germany. The plate is in mint condition and would make a great addition to any collection. The plate is halllmarked "ORIGINEEL DELFTS HANDWERK HOLLAND" (see photos of hallmark)
