DESCRIPTION

The Society for Army Historical Research was founded in 1921 to encouraged interest in the history of British and Commonwealth armies and to encourage research into their evolution and past. The society's interests include army and regimental history, military antiquities and pictures, uniforms, badges and medals, arms and equipment and the history of land warfare in general.

The Journal was first published in 1921 and is one of the premier journals of military history, published quarterly in March, June, September and December. 

This set includes twenty five volumes of the journal from 1955 to 1990.

All are in the original paper wraps. Externally, very smart, the following volumes are from the Military Library of Daniel Fernley, and have stamps to the front wraps: Vol. XXV. No 141, Vol. XXXVII No. 150, Vol. XXXVII No. 151, Vol. XXXVII. No. 152, Vol XL No. 162, Vol. XLI No. 165, Vol. XLV No. 184, Vol. L No. 202,Vol. LII No. 210, Vol. LV No. 221, Vol. LVI No. 227, Vol. LVI No. 228. There is a sticker to front wrap of XXXVIII No 153, Vol. XLVIII No 195, and a pencil inscription to front wrap Vol. LIV No. 220. Internally, all are firmly bound with bright and clean pages with some light spotting to Vol. XL No. 162.

Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear

Very Good Indeed - Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy

Very Good - Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones

often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy

Good - Meaning not very good. Some more serious faults as will

be described in the condition report under 'condition'

Good Only - Meaning one or more faults that could really do with repair

Fair - As with good only above but with other faults

leaving a compromised copy even after repair

Poor - Really bad and possibly seriously incomplete.
