An excellent copy of the autobiography of pioneering bookseller James Lackington, who is credited with revolutionising the British book trade in ensuring he sold books cheaply enough for the majority of readers. He built the largest bookstore in the United Kingdom - Temple of the Muses in Finsbury Square - with an inventory of over half a million volumes.

Retaining the original half title.

CONDITION

Rebound in quarter cloth with paper covered boards, and endpapers renewed. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound. Tide mark to title page and frontispiece, with pages age toned due to paper type, but otherwise generally clean.
