A vividly detailed biography on the life and reign of King Louis XI of France.
Louis XI was king for a total of 22 years, and is oft-nicknamed 'Louis the Prudent'. He has a deen interest in diplomats, and has also nicknamed 'the Cunning' and 'the Universal Spider', with his enemies accusing him of spinning plots and conspiracies.
Originally written in French by the historian Pierre Matthieu. Matthieu was a part of French court, enjoying special attentions from Henry VI, and accompanying Louis XIII on sieges.
Translated into English by Edward Grimeston, a sergeant-at-arms, and one of the most active translators of his day.
