The first edition, first impression of this work by prolific English writer and the biographer Lionel Thomas Caswall Rolt.

In a full morocco signed binding by Bayntun-Riviere, with gilt detailing to the spine, and marbled endpapers.

Illustrated with thirty images on eight double sided plates. Collated, complete.

Rolt examines the main events and achievements in the life of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, a major figure of the Industrial Revolution, remembered for his innovations in the constructions of steamships, railway lines, and dockyards, and the development of the SS Great Britain, which when launched was the largest ship ever built.

A beautifully bound example of this biography of Brunel.


CONDITION

In a full morocco signed binding, with gilt detailing to back strip. Externally, very fine, with a touch of fading to back strip, as is common with blue morocco. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright.
