Polish DS-50 personal dosimeter, radiation indicator, NBC, Cold War, New old stock - Rare!

The DS-50 is a non self-read radiation dosimeter meant to be carried by troops in risk of exposure. The unit contains a capacitor, which is charged by a special machine at base. The charge in the capacitor disipates under ionising radiation exposure. When read by the same machine, it will indicate the level of exposure that the wearer has received.

These dosimeters are quite rare, and are unissued new old stock from c1970's. The writing on the top caps is a little faded on some of the units & there may be small marks or scuffs from storage. These are almost identical to the Soviet ДС-50, just a couple of centimetres shorter at around 10cm.

An unconfirmed rumour is that these were issue to general ground troops, who would be unable to read their exposure level, whereas officers were issued the self-read type of unit (DKP-50A*, DKP-50), so they would be more aware of danger.
