VERY RARE flawless bi-colour Winza sapphire!

0.30ct Pink/blue/purple pear brilliant cut sapphire from the Winza mine in Tanzania. This is an absolutely stunning little gem with fantastic colour saturation, clarity, cut and lustre. While not the biggest gem it really packs a punch being very bright and sparkly. Much of the bi-colour  material from this mine is either heavily included or very dark in colour. This gem however, is much lighter and brighter than most and to my eye seems to have very few if any inclusions. This gem would make an excellent addition to any collection or be set into your high quality jewellery piece. The blend of pink and blue colours has produced a gem with some beautiful flashes of very bright purple hues alongside the pinks and blues, this seems to be quite a rare occurrence in Winza sapphires, especially while retaining good clarity. The blue colour seems to be dispersed throughout the gem in microscopic pockets as there is no actual visible blue area, only the effect of these blue inclusions proves their presence. The Winza mine is Africa's most famous sapphire and Ruby mine, it has produced some of the finest rubies on the planet and the blue sapphires found there come a very close second. Bi-colour gems such as this one are a true specialist rarity from Winza, combining the best qualities of both Ruby and sapphire.

Priced well below market value but I am fairly flexible on price so please feel free to make me an offer and I guarantee that no reasonable offer will be refused.

Pink sapphires and rubies get their colour from chromium impurities in their crystal structure, however, this chromium is actually a crystal growth inhibitor so as the levels increase so does the tendency for the gem to be included and opaque. I believe that this gem has kept its clarity due to the presence of iron as well as chromium, the iron produces blue in sapphires and does allow good crystal growth. The blue hues are visible in this gem from some angles in sunlight.

Please feel free to message me with any questions about any of my gemstones and I will endeavour to answer as best I can.
