DESCRIPTION

A very scarce work, in the original French.

Illustrated with a hand-coloured frontispiece, and fifteen hand-coloured plates.

A concise educational work on the nature and habits of butterflies, looking into the different kinds of butterflies found around the world and their beauties.

The butterflies are exampled in this work through the beautiful and vivid colour plates. 

Undated, dated from WorldCat. 

Ink inscription of Holroyd Chaplin to the front paste down; Chaplin was a prosperous solicitor of the Victorian era.


CONDITION

In the original publisher's cloth wraps. Externally, generally smart, with light marks, mostly to the front wrap. Minor rubbing to the spine and extremities, with a couple of small chips to the front joint. Damp stain to the head of the wraps. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste down. Internally, generally firmly bound, with some pages working loose. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with scattered spots.
