Very Scarce Marked Antique Glass 1926 Automobile Oil Bottle with Original Metal Spout

DESCRIPTION: Scans show it all.....Nice, high quality glass bottle, similar to a quart milk bottle. Used in early automobiles to hold and dispense oil during oil changes and addition. Has a long metal spout that screwed on the top for pouring. These containers were reusable. Typically, oil was purchased in large cans or drums, then transferred as needed to these bottles and kept ready for use in individual cars. This one is in excellent condition. Pressed glass as most were.  This would make a great gift or a nice display item for the discerning collector, and obviously a cool accessory to go with your antique car.

Glass has a number of things deeply “cast” into it, as shown, for example “Fill to Line” (with arrow), “One Imperial Liquid Quart”, etc. Also, "DURAGLAS". Also, has the original metal spout.  Patented in1926, but not marked as some identical ones are. Metal spout is in excellent condition with no rust as often seen.

Stands about 14 1/2" tall overall and is 4" diameter at the base. Glass container itself is about 8 1/2" tall. and the top is about 6” tall. As you can imagine, breakage was significant, reducing the number of these that survived.  This is an extremely difficult-to-find antique auto or service station accessory, and you will not see them for sale often. This one is in nice condition. Fairly clean, although still has a few slight traces of the original oil in the bottom!!
