TRIBAL CARVED RITUALISTIC PIG SKULL MASK - TIMOR  

Presented here is an impressive pig skull, intricately carved and adorned with both a sculpted visage and  engraved kaif geometric patterns above it and below it, on the muzzle. In impeccable condition, the skull retains all its teeth.
Skulls like the one exhibited here, stand as tangible evidence of ceremonial sacrifices performed to seek guidance from ancestors in addressing various concerns—ranging from illnesses to calamities—or as precautionary rituals. Moreover, they were utilized to invoke positive outcomes, such as a bountiful harvest, success in endeavors, journeys, or the commencement of new phases of life. The preserved skulls of sacrificed animals were either suspended or positioned beneath the roofs of traditional huts.
