Up for auction is a lovely small compote that was most likely used for jelly or jam or sweet meats.  I believe it was made by Portland Glass Co. (Maine).  They were in business from 1863 - 1873.  This rare compote has many designs.  Among them are interlocking rings, stars, fans, beads and other shapes.  It is square in shape.  It measures 5" tall and the base is 3" in diameter.  I don't see any chips or cracks.
