Remarks: *Maximilian Speck, since 1829 Baron Speck von Sternburg (* 30. July 1776 in Gröba near Riesa; gest. 22. December 1856 in Leipzig) was a German merchant, entrepreneur and art collector. As a skilled merchant, he founded numerous branches and achieved great wealth and influence in a remarkable civic career. The Tsar appointed him Knight of Speck in 1825, and the Bavarian King made him Baron of Sternburg in 1829. Speck wrote several books, including about his successes in modern agriculture and a gallery work about his important art collection. There are several (including recent) publications about his biography. - Finely engraved portrait, commissioned by Speck-Sternburg. Mounted on backing paper around 1850. - Full margins and in excellent condition.
