DESCRIPTION

This is the final of Louis Wain's annual, which he first started published in 1901.

Wain published this annually from 1901 to 1915, with this final special volume appearing in 1921.

Colourfully illustrated throughout with Wain's characteristic anthropomorphised cats, printed in black and white with striking red highlights.

Interestingly, this volume shows an increase of patterned fabrics Wain illustrated with his cats, a small insight into the future psychedelic and kaleidoscopic style he painted in whilst in ill health.

This 1921 annual includes 'Black Trackers of the Bush' by A. L. Haydon, 'Schoolgirls' Slang' by W. Ragg Holt, 'My Dog' by J. Ashbourne, 'Dedicated to the Newly-Married' by Claire Wain, 'What the Fairy Bluebell Saw in Japan' by F. Elden, and more.
