1930's Wedding dress in knot stitch worked on US needle size 7, which is a modern size 4.5
and the original yarn used is was called Velveen. The main dress is knitted and then finished
with crochet edges.

Velveen was Crepe-like in texture with a very slight sheen and a Lightweight
4 ply and good for summer items.

It works well either as a bridal gown or you could knit in other colors for evening
wear. The image shows an added satin or silk sash which just finishes the whole
thing off. The Cathedral length veil was also very popular in the the 30's.

Size to fit:
16 US vintage size which seems to be a 34ins bust.
You can knit 1 smaller and 2 larger sizes (14, 18 and 20 or 32, 36 and 38ins bust)
by simply following the instructions included in the pattern.

The needles and hooks mentioned are old UK sizes, so I have included
a chart to help with old to new sizing
