Sterling Silver Vesta Box Case, Changeable Striker, CRESTED, Antique 1892
English antique sterling silver vesta box case by Deakin & Francis Ltd, hallmarked from Birmingham in 1892.
Carries a family crest to lid which we have not researched, some fading to this and not as bold as it once would have been.
As well as the hallmarks it is also marked ' SIRUS PAT'.
The area on back edge is where the striker goes, on this type of example that would have been a piece of course sand paper that could be easily inserted and removed when worn.
The hinge area at some point has been repaired as images will show, so not perfect but never the less a nice late Victorian example.
Measures 44x29x11mm.
