DRAFT / DESIGN 1933/34

'RUSSIAN BALLET'

Elegant dance couple, performing a wide dance step to the side: The leading figure with a black hat, red jacket with wide sleeves and matching red breeches hugs the dance partner from behind in a shoulder-free, black and white lace dress with tiered flounces and places his right hand on her hip to support them.
On a black, oval flat base.

A contemporary photograph by the Berlin photographer Gregor Harlip depicting an unspecified dancing couple, entitled 'Russian Ballet', was probably used as a model.
