The Film Ferrania story is truly remarkable.
For much of the 20th Century, Ferrania was one of the world's largest film manufacturers.
With their huge factory in Northern Italy, they produced millions of rolls per year for decades, both under the Ferrania brand and various others, like Solaris and TudorColor.
Like many other film companies, the early 2000's were a time of upheaval with the switch to digital, and by 2008 the company was bust and its huge factory sat empty.
In 2012, Nicola Baldini and Marco Pagni founded the modern Film Ferrania company, and in 2014 ran a successful kickstarter campaign, raising enough money to save one of the original small research and production factories on the Ferrania campus.
After many years troubleshooting machinery and production issues and modernising their new (old) factory building, Ferrania is now running continuous production of beautiful black and white film in their very own factory!
There are only a handful of companies in the world who can still manufacture film, and Ferrania have now re-joined that exclusive club.
All Ferrania film is made in their factory in Italy. It is not re-packaged or re-branded film from another manufacturer.
Support this pioneering company and the important work they are doing, try out some of their beautiful film today!
