This is a rare 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition “Medal of Honor” award given to Mrs. Fred H. Hansen from Clovis, CA for Fancy Dried Figs. This award has been mounted inside a carved wooden box. I’m wondering if Mrs Hansen displayed her dried figs in this box at the PPIE and that is why she put it in this box? The box is a carved wood box with a “Yosemite-like” scene with a mother bear and 2 cubs playing with the trees in the background. The box measures about 17”x8.5”x 1.75”. The lid comes completely off. It is in really good condition for being 109 years old. There are some scratches(pic 8) and dirt spots on the top and on the bottom it looks like paper was stuck to it in a couple of spots( pic 12-13). This is a one-of-a-kind piece for the PPIE collector.
