In 2021, Shimano's high-end squid fishing rod, the "SEPHIA XTUNE METAL SUTTE," underwent a model change. While the previous model was already very popular, this latest version has evolved even further with Shimano's latest technology. In addition to the classic F action of the squid metal rod, there is now an R action model that is suitable for jigging, as well as a UK model equipped with a glass solid tip (floaty-top) at the tip, catering to float fishing.
Using Toray's T1100G carbon fiber and Nanoalloy® technology, it achieves strength surpassing Spiral X. Furthermore, it adopts the High Power X with a reinforced structure that tightens the carbon tape in an X shape and Nano Pitch, which wraps the blanks with a fine pitch. As a result, it is crafted with blanks that are lighter and yet have higher strength compared to the previous model. The F-action model features the high-resistance Tough Tech Infinity (flexible carbon solid), while the R-action model incorporates the High Response Solid (stiffer carbon solid). The UK model employs a glass solid even more flexible than carbon solid. Additionally, a significant feature of all models is the ability to detach the solid tip.
The use of lightweight titanium material, coupled with 3D technology-calculated angles, significantly reduces line entanglement. The guides themselves are small, which brings the line closer to the blanks, enhancing sensitivity. In the spinning model, the Aero Titanium, a high-strength and durable metal ring, is employed, improving casting feel and distance.
