THE QUEEN STARTING FOR A DRIVE.
The Queen is here portrayed seated in her carriage-and-four, about to start for a drive from the Palace of Osborne, in the Isle of Wight. Her Majesty is exceedingly fond of driving, and few of her subjects are more hardy in braving the elements; whatever be the weather the carriage remains open. On the box of the conveyance is one of the Queen's Highland attendants; two out-riders stand ready to precede the carriage on its way. The Palace of Osborne has a somewhat special interest, owing to the fact that the Government House in Melbourne is to a large extent copied from it. The beautiful views over the Solent make Osborne one of the most delightful among the residences of the Sovereign.
