Engineered for wide-field astronomy such as enjoying stunning views of the moon, picking out your favorite constellations, comet hunting, satellite spotting, or watching for iridium flares, the Nikon 18x70 Astroluxe Binoculars are an ideal companion for dark and starry nights or any terrestrial long range viewing including: birding, hunting or any long range view.
The Astroluxe is outfitted with relatively low magnification to ensure a generous field of view for easier viewing—especially when holding them by hand. The traditional Porro prism light path presents a rich depth of field, while producing a naturally balanced and comfortable feel in the hand. To enhance the view, Nikon utilizes winged eyecups that conform to your face, keep stray ambient peripheral light from interfering with the view and causing distractions, and increase contrast and clarity.
The chassis' ergonomic feel is complemented with textured armor to further improve grip security. Both optical tubes are nitrogen filled to be waterproof and resistant to the internal fogging that can occur when moving from the inside of a warm house to the outside into cold winter or sultry humid summer nights. Weighing in at 4.5 pounds, holding the Astroluxe can cause some users to experience arm fatigue—especially during long observation sessions—so Nikon made them mountable on a wide variety of photo, video, or field tripods with the simple addition of an optional adapter for hands-free use to ensure vibration-free views and easier tracking of fast-moving subjects.
